Pro Beach Rules

Start of the game
The captains of each team will choose a representative to "Lag" the disc. One representative of each team will throw the disc from the back of the end zone, trying to get it closer to the back of the opposite end zone without the disc going over the line. Both representatives throw the disc at the same time on a count of three. If both disc go over the line, then the closer to the back line wins the choice of either starting on offence, or select which endzone to defend.

Scoring
A goal, worth 1 point, is scored when a player throws the disc to a teammate and it is successfully caught within the confines of the endzone of attack. Two points are scored when a player throws a completed pass from within their defending endzone to within their attacking endzone. Play is initiated after each score.

Initiate Play
Each new point begins again with both teams lining up on their respective goal line with the team that just scored throwing the disc to the other team. All pulls must be an inverted type throw of the disc (upside down, hammer, scuber, etc.). When the disc is pulled it shall be at least 91 degrees (perpendicular) to the ground. The disc is played where it lands or caught. If the disc hits inbounds, but rolls or slides out-of-bounds, then the disc is played at the point where the disc went out-of-bounds.

Observers / Referees
There will be three Observers on each field. No Observer may make an active foul or violation calls, only line calls. Players make all calls. If a fould or violation call is contested by an opposing player, then the Observer(s) will either agree with or against the call. The Head Observer (HO) has the responsibility of watching the Thrower and Marker. The HO is positioned on either one side or the other of the field. The HO is considered part of the playing field. The HO will also count the stall. The Line Observers (LO) have the responsibility of watching the Receivers and Defenders. The LO is positioned on opposite sidelines and endzones of the field. The LO should be off the field and is considered as not being part of the field. Observers calls cannot be contested by a player. Players may ask for the Observers to have a conference in determining if a call is correct.

Stall Count
The HO counts the stall count. The person with the disc has 6 seconds to throw the disc to a team mate. The HO will initiate the count when the Defender is within 3 meters of the Thrower and establishes a mark. The stall count shall be counted out load where the Thrower and Marker and other players in the imidiate area can hear the count. The HO will count both verbally and with a swinging arm motion, much like how the NBA Referees count lane violations. The count should be started with the words "stalling one, two, three...".. If the disc is in the hands of the thrower when the HO otters the word ³six², then a stall has occurred and the disc is turned over to the opposing team with a hand check. Boundary Lines The boundary lines are part of the playing field proper. If the bottom of the player's foot steps on the line, then they are considered in-bounds. If they drag the lines out of their original position, they are to be considered out-of-bounds.

Checking the Disc
A hand check is needed to initiate play after any infraction of the rules, such as, violations and fouls. A ground check is needed to initiate play any other time such as, a pulled disc, brick-mark, turnover, or time-out.

Official Disc
A colored 175 gram disc is the Official Disc of Pro Beach Ultimate and should be used in all sanctioned games.

Footwear
Cleats are not permitted. Tennis shoes and beach type shoes are allowed in games as long as they do not endanger the safety of other players.

Uniforms
Players are to wear matching color coordinating uniforms in Pro Beach Ultimate games. Men are not required to wear a shirt. If they chose not to wear a shirt, then the entire teams shorts must match and anyone wearing shirts, they must match. Women must wear a shirt, sports bra or bathing suit top. Women's tops must match.

Yellow Card / Red Card
In Pro Beach Ultimate with Observers / Referees, the Yellow Card & Red Card system is in effect:

Yellow Cards: Anyone knowingly in violation of the Official Rules of Pro Beach Ultimate that give a player or team an unfair advantage can result in a Yellow Card. The Yellow Card is considered a stern warning. Two Yellow Cards against one player in a timed game, or match will result in that player being ejected from the remainder of the game and the following game. Two Yellow Cards against a team will result in that team forfeiting the game. Yellow Cards may be given to a any player whose actions are verbally aggressive to the Observers, Tournament Official and/or Spectators.

Red Card: Any knowingly aggressive play by any player in Beach Ultimate will result in a Red Card. One Red Card will cause the ejection of that player from the remaining game and for the following game to be played. A Red Card can be given to a team for aggressive behavior. A team will forfeit their game and be ejected from the tournament.
